Simple Suggestions To Create An Alkaline Diet

Because of today’s rapid lifestyle, often referred to as the “rat race,” one of the things that suffers most is our nutritional choices. We end up eating foods that are quick to buy (i.e. convenience food), but that are not necessarily suited for our overall condition. The is both short-term and long-term health problems. All the same, the only thing that was requireed was a nourishing alkaline diet to save us those heaps of medical bills and a lifetime of physical suffering. If there is one thing unhealthy foods have in common, it is their acidifying effect on the body. The body requires a finely-tuned balance between acidifying and alkaline-forming nutrients, to allow it to work at its best. In fact, the body’s pH level (or level of acidity/alkalinity) tilts slightly more towards alkalinity. Sadly, many of the meals we eat today, especially packaged foods, are mostly acid-forming after they have been integrated by the body. On the bright side, however, just as one can fix the pH level of a swimming pool, one can turn an acidic body into an alkaline body. For the human body, the most successful way to correct this is by turning your current meal plan into a more alkaline diet by adding specific foods that are naturally alkaline-forming. In spite of the fact that this will not result in an immediate modification in the body’s pH level, its results will become apparent if one keeps at it. When you’re following the alkaline diet, you can use the following foods to change your acid-alkaline balance: Lime, avocado, watermelon, pumpkin, sesame seeds, lentils, asparagus, radish, cabbage, turnip, chives, and green beans, among others. On the other hand, increasing alkalinity must be paired with a reduction in the intake of acidifying foods like carbonated drinks, white bread, mayonnaise, beer, and fried foods. One must be careful, of course, not to go to the other extreme and end up with an overly alkaline body. Remember, moving into an alkaline diet does not mean neglecting all foods that are acid-forming. Alkaline diet experts have learned that many foods we know to be acidic, actually change into an alkaline state once they are integrated. Some examples of these types of foods are oranges and limes. These citrus fruits contain citric acid when in their raw form, but are converted into alkalis as they go through the digestive tract.
