High Field Stand-Up MRI vs. the Traditional “older technology” Open MRI

Washington Open MRI now has the world’s only high field full-body Stand-Up Open MRI scanner that can scan patients in the sitting or standing position.

Our new Stand-Up Open MRI technology allows you to watch your favorite TV shows during your Open MRI scan!
No more fear of claustrophobia or being squeezed into a tube.

Washington Open MRI’s Stand-Up Open-MRI is the world’s only Patient-Friendly™ scanner.
Our Open MRI technology is totally open!

This technological breakthrough is second to none in the MRI imaging world, and fully reimbursed by all insurance carriers at no additional cost to the patient.

The revolutionary scanner features the only MRI-compatible, motorized, multi-positional, patient positioning system, which has been designed to be fully functional Inside the scanner’s magnetic field. It can position the patient for the full range of conventional “lie-down” MRI scanning, or upright for weight-bearing studies. The full length of the spine can be imaged in the normal weight-bearing posture, even with the patient touching their toes for full fexion images of the lumbar spine. Unusual patient positions that are impossible on conventional “lie-down” MRI scanners are routine on Washington Open MRI’s new Stand-Up Open MRI.

The patient positioning system is tilted back slightly (approximately five degrees) in order to stabilize the patient and avoid body motion during stand-up scanning. This offers the most comfort for our patients. Patients can be positioned facing the poles, which enables a large range of motion for scans of the shoulder. Scans can also be obtained with lateral flexion of the lumbar spine NO OTHER MRI can perform this diagnostic procedure. This new Stand-Up Open MRI is based on FONAR’s proven high-field technology, and FONAR is the PATENT HOLDER for MRI scanning technology - all others license this proprietary technology fror their MRI equipment. So who do you think will always be at “the cutting edge”.The combination of the transaxial magnetic field and any of FONAR’s array of high signal-to-noise solenoidal surface coils is one of the key reasons why the new Stand-Up Open MRI is second-to-none in image quality. And as FONAR is the patent-holder of this technology Its full range of advanced software features and state-of-the-art pulse sequences provide unparalleled diagnostic precision.

In Medicine…

Often an upright position is the only position in which the patient’s symptoms occur. Certain cardiovascular and neurological disorders exhibit their symptoms primarily when the patient is upright. The same is true of the GI tract and the spine and joints, including hips, knees and ankles. Coupled with MRI’s unparalleled ability to “see” soft tissues, Stand-Up Open MRI gives physicians a more global view of pathology and its impact on function.

From the perspective of medicine, Stand-Up Open MRI provides a unique and dramatic view of the body’s interior. For the first time, Washington Open MRI brings to the medical practice the newfound ability to see all the body’s organs and tissues in their normal position of function - upright.

This technological breakthrough is second to none in the MRI imaging world, and fully reimbursed by all insurance carriers at no additional cost to the patient.

Don’t miss aerobic if you want a great cardio workout

by firmbodies.com on Jul.27, 2009, under Aerobics Cardio, Health and Fitness

According to health experts, exercises can be categorized in to two basic types that include the strength training exercise and aerobic exercise. You may have seen how some people use aerobic exercise as a means to warming up their body before moving on to more strenuous types of exercises. This is done mainly because aerobic exercise increases a person’s heart rate as a result of the movements in the muscles. Aerobic Weight-bearing type of aerobic exercises includes skipping, walking and jogging. Non-weight bearing aerobic exercises includes activities such as swimming and cycling.

If you train to much, Excessive Sweating could be a big problem for you.

Aerobic exercise is recognized and practiced in every part of the world because it offers a wider range of exercise steps that are designed to suit different individuals. Physiotherapists advise the use of aerobic exercise to patients suffering from heart problems, arthritis and even diabetes as it has a special way of treating such cases.

Aerobic exercise does not only give a warming up to body muscles. Whilst being involved in the type of exercise you like, your body will produce more energy and deliver more oxygen to the muscles. When the heart rate increases, more blood will flow into your muscles and then back to your lungs. If you are an individual who does aerobic exercise on a regular basis, you will have a higher chance of taking in and transporting more oxygen to the lungs, heart, blood vessels and muscles, thus increasing your overall aerobic capacity.

If you train with weights, you have to be careful if you have Sweaty Hands

Do you want to live a longer life? Do you want to keep fit, especially as you pass your 30’s? The answer would be a definite yes. Aerobic exercise gives you all that and more. If you involve yourself in some kind of aerobic exercise each day, the chance of living a healthier life is high. Why not combine an activity you like, such as dancing with a good aerobic exercise workout and achieve synergistic results?

There are different ways where you can carry out your aerobic exercise with less effort from your side. An aerobic workout can actually be something to look forward to if combined with listening to music, watching TV or even watching videos on different aerobic exercise steps.

The type of aerobic exercise you choose will determine which part of the body gets the best workout. A relaxed state of mind, a happier mood and the strengthening of the heart muscle are a few benefits that one could reap by getting a good workout.
